Media and retailers often turn to subcultures looking for a “next big thing” to serve to the eager masses of consumers.
In any alternative community, opinions on this topic are always divided AF!
Some think this is flattering and are glad that it will lead to more understanding of their subculture with additional clothes, accessories and music more accessible and affordable. Looking forward to the influx of followers of the subculture and its expansion.
Some view it as desecration of their subculture, pure rape of the concept and what it stands for, all for profit and cheap entertainment. Dreading the influx of impressionable youth who are more concerned with a look than the meaning behind it and watering down their group with individuals who are not genuinely invested in the ideals of their subculture.
Which of those two sides do you belong to?
